The October meeting saw rather fewer submissions for the Show Table than usual (perhaps everyone was exhausted from helping at the Plant Sale the day before?), but nonetheless, it was an exquisite selection of autumn beauties.

Kathy A won ‘Best on the Table’ with her richly coloured selection of Salvia, Tithonia and intense Tagetes ‘Cinnabar’. She was duly awarded her voucher by Chair Vija.

Members had the opportunity to buy plants from the Plant Sales table, bulbs from Rose Cottage Plants and also to win plants in the raffle. We also collected ‘Pueblo’ Narcissus bulbs to plant for the Pueblo (formerly ‘Pipit’) competition in next year’s Spring Show. The main event of the evening was an interesting illustrated talk from Anne Barnard of Rose Cottage, telling us about some new, some unusual and some classic bulbs for our gardens.

Thanks as always to those running the signing-in and plant sales tables, the raffle, the refreshments and the sound facilities.
