What a day was had at yesterday’s plant sale in the Peace Garden! We had more plants for sale than ever before, longer queues than ever before, and made more money than ever before. The CABAHS members and Charlton House garden volunteers worked harder than ever before too – but it was absolutely worth it. Between us we raised well over £4000 to be divided between the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice and the gardens maintenance fund.

Along with the plant sale, there were community organisations and local artisan stalls in the Old Library, the WI selling delicious baked goods outside and of course the Old Pond Garden had lots of interested visitors.

Thank you to the organisers (you know who you are!), to everyone who sowed, divided, grew on and donated the hundreds of plants, and to those who staffed the stalls, set up and put away. And thanks to the hundreds of plant-loving people of Charlton and beyond who snapped up the lovingly-grown bargains on the day – enjoy them, we’re very happy to see them go to lots of new homes.
