THANK YOU to everyone who supported our Plant Sale and Community Day on May 21st at Charlton House. Whether you donated plants or bought them, you are all heroes! Your generosity will help the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, the Walled Gardens and our speaker programme, with many thanks!
Set up started early, we had sooo many plants to get out to the Back Lawn, and all the tables to position according to Mandy’s Grand Plan.

11 am rolled around quickly and the selling started..

We shared the day with lots of community groups as well as stalls from the Producers Market and everyone had a great time networking and selling their wares.

St Luke’s church tower was open (as long as you could brave all the steps!) with amazing views towards the Thames. The Millenium Tapestry was also on display.

The children’s Bugs-in-the-Beds trail around the Old Pond Garden was very popular, featuring pictures of insects that actually live in the garden. Please keep taking photos of any insects you spot in the Charlton House grounds, and post on Instagram @cabahs_hortisoc #Bugsinthebeds we would love to see them!

Head gardener Jason was on hand to give a tour of the gardens, to explain what he and the Volunteers have been doing (while dodging any bugs-in-the-beds hunters). In Charlton House the new “Ottoman Journeys” exhibition was open and Frilly’s tea rooms were kept busy.
Another thank you to all the helpers on the day. I didn’t get pictures of everyone, but you know who you are!

Finally, it was great to see so many local hounds bringing their owners along for a browse. Dogs always welcome (on leads in the Walled Gardens!). Lovely day, thank you all! Kathy
