This month’s meeting included an interesting talk from Clare Lanes about the three-year renovation project of the Rose Garden at Greenwich Park, the monthly Show Table display, the raffle, the potato competition, the sales table and of course plenty of chat and information about upcoming events (NB: Horn Fair on 19 October!).
The potato competition had been held over from the Autumn Show, due to it being held in August this year. Those maincrop potatoes needed more time to grow, and grow they did, at least for some of us – Ann’s astonishing 2.419kg crop (from a single potato in a container!) won the day. On receiving her traditional prize of a bag of crisps, Ann said that simply keeping the potatoes regularly fed and watered was the secret to her success.

There were some very pretty and varied entries for the Show Table this month, and Annie’s mixed bouquet was selected as the winner.

As ever, thanks to those running the signing-in table, the plant sales table, the refreshments and the raffle (congratulations to the winners).
