What we bring to the table

Class 17 (‘photograph of a display of plants on a table’) in our recent Flower, Fruit and Vegetable Show was partly inspired by Vija’s ‘Fantasy Garden Tables‘ post in May, which in turn was inspired by Monty Don’s ever-changing and covetable table displays on Gardeners’ World. Members’ photographs were displayed and judged on a digital screen, and were so varied, lovely and interesting, we thought we’d show them here (click on images to see in more detail):

Tables range from dining-size to bistro-style prettiness, both indoor and outdoor, but the point is always the plants. Like Monty, many members display succulents on their tables, and I’m sure at a different time of year there would be bulbs (perhaps in the Spring Show!). Some chose a posy to show, and others the fruits (and vegetables) of their labours. Many tables host tender plants, so the pots can be moved to shelter over winter. One thing is for sure – I’d like to have a cup of tea at any of these tables.
