Thank you to everyone who came to the annual Easter Trail “Bunnies in the Beds” at Charlton House walled gardens on Sunday April 6th. What a fabulous day we all had! We are so grateful to all the helpers, garden volunteers, CABAHS members and RGHT staff who made the event happen.
The Bunnies were hiding in their favourite plants this year, so the children learned a bit of Botany whilst spotting them! We admit to importing a few pots of flowers specially for the event ( I can’t see Jason wanting Marigolds or Periwinkle in the Old Pond Garden on a permanent basis..). After finding and naming the flowers, children had to find the Bees in the Bushes in order to pollinate the flowers – thanks to Carolyn for all those cute knitted bees!

After completing the trail, there was lots more to do in the Peace Garden. We had the Alpine Strawberry potting up table, Splat a Carrot game, Life of the Pea, Tic Tac Toe and of course Bobbi the real bunny. Parents could buy a plant or two from our Plant Sales Table. Other groups joining in the fun: Face Painting with Anna from Magic Eyes https://www.instagram.com/magic_eyes_face_painting/ and Bunny crafts from Miriam of the Charlton Library https://www.better.org.uk/library/london/greenwich/charlton-house-library and more crafts and toys with Vicky and team from Charlton Toy Library https://charltontoylibrary.org.uk/. It’s so good to collaborate with other local groups.

Three cheers for Joe, our Garden Volunteer Litter-picker extraordinaire. He entered the Old Pond Garden into the Great British Spring Clean again, and (sadly) was able to collect lots of bags of rubbish.

Finally of course, there was the AMAZING Bunny Head artwork painted by Brownie, and it wasn’t only the kids who enjoyed that. Here’s Terry having his moustache clipped!

Happy Easter, see you next year.. Here are a few more pictures from the day.
